Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who can currently be seen as a dedicated cop (no spoilers on this post!) in The Dark Knight Rises, is front and center with his next feature Premium Rush. The actor plays an NYC bike messenger who is attempting to travel across town and deliver a valuable envelope. Michael Shannon is the corrupt police officer determined to retrieve the envelope at any cost, which could mean curtains for the messenger.
Along with Premium Rush, Gordon-Levitt will also be doing interview rounds for the futuristic thriller Looper, a project which reunites him with Brick filmmaker Rian Johnson. He also writes, acts, and directs Don Jon’s Addiction, a project which co-stars Julianne Moore and Scarlett Johansson. “I learned so much from working with so many great directors that it allowed me to do (the picture),” says Gordon-Levitt, who told journalists that he will talk more about the film when it gets closer to its release date. “I had a blast.”
Although he’s inundated with film roles, Gordon-Levitt continues to find creative outlets within different artistic communities. The actor contributes a track on Move On The Sun, a double album that’s being released through his hitRECord production company.
