Currently in theaters and not doing bad on the weekend box office chart (#3 w/$14.7 m), DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS is the third and quite possibly last in the popular franchise based on the best selling books by JEFF KINNEY. Directed by DAVID BOWERS from a screenplay by MAYA FORBES, GABE SACHS and WALLACE WOLODARSKY, the film reunites original cast members STEVE ZAHN, RACHAEL HARRIS, ZACHARY GORDON, DEVON BOSTICK and ROBERT CAPRON in telling of the continuing fraternal warfare between Greg and his older brother Roderick as they negotiate the days of summer.
Despite continued popularity and good opening weekend numbers, it appears the WIMPY KID series might be ready for a reboot. We spoke with producer NINA JACOBSON a few months ago and she admitted that her stars have gotten a bit too grown up to carry on and DOG DAYS will, most likely, be the end of the current series.
