The acclaimed TNT drama series The Closer is coming to an end after a seven year run.  Headlined by Emmy winning actress Kyra Sedgwick, the show is being spun off into the upcoming series Major Crimes, with many of The Closer cast members reprising their roles.

J.K. Simmons, who plays Chief Will Pop on The Closer, is not returning for the spin-off, as he believes it was time to move on and try something new.  (Click on the media bar below to hear J.K. Simmons)

The series Simmons is referring to is the new ABC series Family Tools, which premieres this fall and The Closer airs tonight on TNT.
