TV Line reports that Odette Annable is reteaming with House producer Greg Yaitanes for the 10-episode, Cinemax series Banshee, where she will play a Native American assassin saddled with a mysterious past.

Along with her work on House and the series Breaking In, Annable headlined the 2009 paranormal thriller The Unborn and gave a charming performance as Kristen Bell’s nemesis in You Again, a critically drubbed comedy which I actually dug.

As for Banshee, executive produced by True Blood head Alan Ball, the idea of a thief (Antony Starr) masquerading as a sheriff to carry out his own nefarious activities and hide from other criminals is an intriguing concept. I’m also betting the house that Annable can pull off the stone cold killer vibe. Why she wasn’t picked as the lead in David E. Kelley’s failed Wonder Woman pilot is beyond me, but maybe Banshee will expand perceptions on Annable’s diverse acting abilities.
