Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann captivated millions with his visually stirring renderings of Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge, but his 2008 feature Australia failed to reach the same creative heights.

Luhrmann’s Australia experience didn’t deter him from tackling one of literature’s most beloved works, The Great Gatsby, as the Leonardo DiCaprio (as Gatsby) headlined feature opens December 25th.

Will Luhrmann’s use of 3D draw us into the 1920s and can this film capture F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wistful yet bitter take on his own generation?

Joel Edgerton plays Tom Buchanan, the millionaire husband of Daisy (Carey Mulligan), aka Gatsby’s one true love.  While promoting the upcoming movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Mr. Edgerton gave his take on watching The Great Gatsby in 3D:
