Hot on the heels of its recent premiere at L.A.’s Outfest, HBO is airing VITO, an unflinchingly moving documentary that chronicles the life and career of author and gay activist VITO RUSSO (1946 - 1990). As much a history of the modern American gay movement as it is a heartfelt tribute to the man who went behind the lavender curtain to expose THE CELLULOID CLOSET in his 1981 book of the same name, VITO is an informative and entertaining look at the world of a devoted radical activist during an important (and formative) time of change.
