Despite the horrible events at a Colorado theater that left many attending the premiere of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES dead or wounded at the hands of a deranged gunman, the film broke several weekend attendance and box office records. Bringing to a close director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN’S hugely popular and visually stunning BATMAN trilogy, the movie is based on a script NOLAN co-wrote with his brother JONATHAN and stars CHRISTIAN BALE, MICHAEL CAINE, MORGAN FREEMAN, GARY OLDMAN, ANNE HATHAWAY, TOM HARDY, MARION COTILLARD and JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT.

Eschewing the temptation to present THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in 3D , NOLAN opted to shoot the film using state-of-the-art IMAX equipment and, at the recent DARK KNIGHT press conference, explained his choice. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
