It’s just fun to type that Denis Leary, John Leguizamo (aka Benny Blanco from the Bronx in Carlito’s Way), and Ray Romano are the top dogs at the box-office, thanks to the successful debut of Ice Age: Continental Drift. Other than The Expendables, when can three middle age guys (even if they’re just vocal talent) rule the box-office roost when Hollywood understandably churns out comic book driven vehicles? The animated feature bested The Amazing Spider-Man, Sony’s reboot that is headlined by Andrew Garfield and directed by 500 Days of Summer filmmaker Marc Webb.
Here’s the top 10:
1. Ice Age: Continental Drift - $46 million
2. The Amazing Spider-Man - $35 million
3. Ted - $22.2 million
4. Brave - $2.7 million
5. Magic Mike - $9 million
6. Savages - $8.7 million
7. Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection - $5.6 million
8. Katy Perry: Part of Me - $3.74 million
9. Moonrise Kingdom - $3.7 million
10. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted - $3.5 million
Denis Leary explains why it’s not a “hard thing” to say yes to doing another Ice Age film:
