Word hit today that iconic film producer RICHARD D. ZANUCK has died at the age of 77. The son of actress VIRGINIA FOX and studio head DARRYL F. ZANUCK, there was never much doubt that he would go into the family business. Over the course of his career he served as head of 20th Century Fox Studio and later produced (either in partnership with DAVID BROWN or on his own), such big-screen classics as JAWS, COCOON, DRIVING MISS DAISY, SWEENEY TODD and ALICE IN WONDERLAND (to name just a scant few).
We spoke with ZANUCK a few years ago and he talked about his years in show business and how, while the technology of movies is constantly changing, the storytelling fundamentals remain the same. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
