Coming to theaters this week, MAGIC MIKE tells the story of a young male stripper mentored to the top of the biz by more experienced colleagues. Directed by STEVEN SODERBERGH from a script by REID CARLTON, the story is loosely based on the real-life exploits of star CHANNING TATUM before he hit the big-time as an actor. Also in the cast are ALEX PETTYFER, MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, MATT BOMER, ALEX RODRIGUEZ and JOE MANANIELLO, making this what appears to be the “beefcake” movie of the year.
In the film, SODERBERGH completely captures the atmosphere and energy of the strip club world without getting too dark yet still maintains a believable reality. During last week’s press conference to promote the film, he talked about using less dialogue to get his points across to an audience . (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
