merida11 Brave: The Video Game, a title based on the upcoming Disney Pixar film Brave, comes out on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Windows PC/MAC this summer.  The third person adventure has gamers play as archer Merida (voiced in the film by Boardwalk Empire’s Kelly Macdonald), a young lady who isn’t afraid of bucking the system and carving out her own path.

“We’re excited to offer a compelling game across multiple platforms for fans of the upcoming Disney Pixar film Brave,” says Disney Interactive Media Group Senior VP Javier Ferreira.  “Whether gamers want to play on their own or with others, they can relive highlights from Merida’s journey and go on new adventures inspired by the legends of Scotland and Disney Pixar storytelling.  With Kinect for Xbox 360 and Move on the Playstation 3, gamers will feel like they are using a bow and arrow in an archery range and have a truly immersive experience.”

Gamers will also have the use of a sword along with requisite bow and arrow to vanquish their foes.  The DS version has different missions from the console versions.  There’s also something called Bear mode, which enables gamers to play as a bear.  How that works (can the Bear rock a sword or will he/she just crush people?)…I have no idea.

Brave, which also features the voices of Emma Thompson (Queen Elinor) and Billy Connolly (King Fergus) hits theaters June 22nd.
