Based on mostly positive reviews and a strong opening day box office for 21 JUMP STREET, Sony Pictures is closing a deal with JONAH HILL and MICHAEL BACALL to develop a treatment for a sequel that BACALL will write. 21 JUMP STREET is the big screen adaptation of the popular ’80s television drama that centered on a team of young (-ish) looking adult cops working undercover in an urban high school. Part homage and part heartfelt spoof, the film is obviously proving to be a crowd-pleaser and should take in upwards of $30m for its opening weekend.
Plans for a sequel will most likely come as good news for star CHANNING TATUM, who admitted during the press conference to promote the movie that he was a huge fan of the original show when he was a kid. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
