With American Idol now down to its top 10 after last night’s elimination of Shannon Magrane and the disqualification of Jermaine Jones, the remaining singers must carefully choose each song for performance night, according to Idol judge Steven Tyler.
“The ones that are here now are the ones that can sing anyway,” says Tyler during an interview after last night’s Idol episode. “It’s the choice of song. They’ve got to sing something (in which) America goes ‘I love that song and I love them.’ That’s part of the magic. There’s not many people who have a voice from heaven. That are just naturals. There’s not many. So the ones that are up there sing great - but they have to have a great song that people can relate to and remember.”
Tyler was also asked about the keys to his music longevity. Mentioning his band Aerosmith, the rocker said it’s all about passion (click on the media bar to hear Tyler):
