Michael Fassbender, star of last year’s A Dangerous Method, Shame, and X-Men: First Class, will serve as a juror for Your Film Festival, a worldwide competition which invites artists and storytellers to enter a 15 minute video (covering any genre) to Youtube.com/yourfilmfestival. Ten finalists will have their work screened at the Venice International Film Festival, with the winner receiving a $500,000 YouTube Original Production Grant to work alongside director Ridley Scott’s Scott Free production company (Fassbender stars in Scott’s upcoming feature Prometheus).
“I was delighted to join this partnership alongside Ridley, YouTube, Venice and Emirates,” says Fassbender, who will also executive produce the winner’s next project. “I’ve worked with incredible storytellers before and am excited to help find the next great one through Your Film Festival.”
Fassbender’s passion for exploring emotionally complex characters is evident in such films as Hunger and Fish Tank, and during last year’s press conference for A Dangerous Method he elaborated on his love for “conflict” and “heightened reality” in drama (he references Fish Tank in the clip):
Submissions for Your Film Festival will be accepted through March 31st, 2012.
