Released to DVD and Blu-ray this week, 50/50 is loosely inspired by actual events and tells the story of a young man whose world gets turned upside down when he’s diagnosed with a possibly fatal form of cancer. Forced to face his own mortality, he discovers who his real friends are. Directed by JONATHAN LEVINE from a script by WILL REISER (who is, in fact, the real-life subject of the film), the cast includes JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, SETH ROGEN, ANNA KENDRICK, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD and ANJELICA HUSTON.
A former child actor who first gained prominence on the hit TV sitcom 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN, GORDON-LEVITT managed to avoid the pitfalls young performers often go through when transitioning to adult roles.
