Filmmaker David Cronenberg has explored stories in which his protagonists are faced with confronting their own sexual, mental, and emotional boundaries.  Of course, one could purely enjoy Cronenberg’s movies on a visceral level, as such works as The Fly, The Dead Zone, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises work on a pure pop (and pulp) level.

His latest film, A Dangerous Method, centers on the relationship among psychiatrist Carl Jung, his patient Sabina Spielrein, and his mentor Sigmund Freud.  When asked by a journalist about how A Dangerous Method fits into his body of work, Mr. Cronenberg said that when it comes to storytelling, he pretty much looks to the future.

“These connections, these analyses, they don’t give me anything creatively to help me make this movie (or) whatever it is I’m working on,” says Cronenberg, who also directed Robert Pattinson in the upcoming feature Cosmopolis.  “So I actually forget all that other stuff.”

A Dangerous Method is now playing in select theaters.  The following clip below has Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley) giving Jung (Michael Fassbender) a rather interesting proposition.
