Opening in theaters on Christmas Day, EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE centers on a precocious 11-year-old New York City boy on a quest to come to terms with the death of his father in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. With the help of an elderly mute known only as “the renter”, he searches to find the lock that can be opened by a key his father left behind. Directed by three-time Oscar-nominee ROGER DALDRY, the cast includes Oscar-winners TOM HANKS and SANDRA BULLOCK along with MAX VON SYDOW, VIOLA DAVIS, JOHN GOODMAN, JEFFREY WRIGHT, ZOE CALDWELL and newcomer THOMAS HORN.
A veteran of over 60 years of filmmaking, Oscar-nominee VON SYDOW turns in a flawless performance that wordlessly conveys an array of emotions ranging from anguish to delight. At the press conference to promote the film, the veteran actor talked about working without dialogue. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
