Adapted from the best-selling novel by JONATHAN SAFRAN FOER by Academy Award-winner ERIC ROTH, EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE centers on a precocious 11-year-old New York City boy on a quest to come to terms with the death of his father in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. Directed by three-time Oscar-nominee ROGER DALDRY, the cast includes Oscar-winners TOM HANKS and SANDRA BULLOCK along with MAX VON SYDOW, VIOLA DAVIS, JOHN GOODMAN, JEFFREY WRIGHT, ZOE CALDWELL and newcomer THOMAS HORN.
For BULLOCK, returning to the issues surrounding 9/11 was a daunting experience that she completely took to heart. Speaking to reporters at a press conference, she talked about knowing that there will never be closure for the families who experienced the tragedy but hopes it will offer a forum for discussion.
