George Clooney will receive the Chairman’s Award at the 23rd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival for his work in The Ides of March and The Descendants.  The actor/director received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Syriana as well as two Golden Globes and an Emmy.  The Awards Gala, presented by Cartier, takes place Saturday, January 7th at the Palm Springs Convention Center.  Previous recipients of the honor include Ben Affleck, Dustin Hoffman, and Nicole Kidman.
