She's been a part of The X Factor family with her UK appearances, and I believe Cowell wants to see if Nicole can grow in the second season. Her choice of Dexter Haygood, and the recent controversy re: his exit certainly doesn't help her cause. I'm more concerned w/ Nicole on a basic level - while Simon, Paula, and L.A. have done solid jobs nurturing their talent..Nicole has made huge blunders in song choice/staging w/ Josh K. and LeRoy Bell...It would be sad to see two standout voices in the competition leave due to Nicole's influence. She refused back in June to go back to either show and she'd still refuse now. I'd imagine she's glad she's out of it at this point. Nicole won't be back. Simon will get Mariah as was always his plan for the first season. It was going to be Mariah and Cheryl. Mariah got pregnant and then the world went crazy over the prospect of Paula so Simon ran with it. But initially the plan was to make a clean break from AI and so Paula was far from a definite.
