Currently in theaters and not exactly taking the box office by storm, JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN has comic actor ROWAN ATKINSON returning to the role he originated in 2003 as a bumbling British Secret Service agent parodying the spy genre. This time around, he’s been drafted to stop a group of international assassins before they eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos. Under the direction of OLIVER PARKER, ATKINSON heads a cast that includes GILLIAN ANDERSON, DOMINIC WEST, ROSAMUND PIKE, DANIEL KALUUYA and RICHARD SCHIFF.
Opening in 8th place on the weekend box office chart with a dismal $3.8 m, the film could easily be dismissed as a non-starter if it weren’t for the fact that it’s already taken in over $100 m internationally. During our recent interview, ATKINSON admitted that his comedies have always fared better in foreign markets other than the United States. (CLICK ON MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
