In theaters later this week, THE THING is a prequel to JOHN CARPENTER’S 1982 sci-fi film of the same name (which was inspired by HOWARD HAWKS’ 1951 THE THING FROM ANOTHER PLANET). Set just a few days before CARPENTER’S story, the film centers on a team of scientists investigating an alien creature who appears to have died in the crash of its spacecraft in Antarctica. Directed by MATTHIJS VAN HEIJNINGEN, it stars MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD, JOEL EDGERTON, ULRICH THOMSEN, ADEWALE AKINNUOYE-AGBAJE and ERIC CHRISTIAN OLSEN.
