The eighth season premiere of House, airing tonight (Fox, 9 pm et/pt), finds Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) in jail, where he has survived for the past six months.  House must tone down the sarcasm in the slammer, since some inmates don’t have proper bedside manner.

“House has been able to survive by his wits,” says Laurie.  “And I think a certain amount of respect has been given to him.  He’s essentially been able to sell his medical expertise.  Everybody has to have something that they can sell in order to survive I suppose.  And he’s been able to sell his medical expertise to get by.  And I think in some ways House is, he is a survivor. I think I could imagine him doing okay when physically tested.  I can imagine him doing okay.”
