
She was fetching as Michael Cera’s muse in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and memorable in Quentin Tarantino’s grindhouse film Death Proof, and now Mary Elizabeth Winstead (fans may also remember her as Bruce Willis’ daughter in Live Free or Die Hard) is front and center with The Thing.
Winstead plays a paleontologist who encounters an alien life form in the feature, which is a prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 version (the movie is headlined by Winstead’s Death Proof co-star Kurt Russell). In a recent interview, Winstead explains how her character, Kate Lloyd, is similar to Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) from Alien:
