Currently in theaters (and struggling at the box office), 50/50 is a very funny drama about friendship, fate and how, very often, bad things happen to good people. Loosely based on actual events, it’s a “cancer buddy movie” that works surprisingly well. Directed by JONATHAN LEVINE from a script by WILL REISER (who is, in fact, the real-life subject of the film), the cast includes JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, SETH ROGEN, ANNA KENDRICK, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD and ANJELICA HUSTON.
As the young man watching his life unravel as new friendships are forged and old friendships strengthened (or lost, as the case may be), GORDON-LEVITT’S sensitive performance is made even greater by the fact that he stepped in at the last minute to replace the abruptly departed JAMES McAVOY. We spoke recently with SETH ROGEN, who had nothing but praise for his co-star. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
