Opening in theaters later this week, 50/50 is a good-hearted look at the life and near-death of a young man struck down with a possibly fatal form of cancer and the people with whom he chooses to surround himself. Directed by JONATHAN LEVINE from a script by WILL REISER, the cast includes JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, SETH ROGEN, ANNA KENDRICK, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD and ANJELICA HUSTON.
Inspired by the real-life friendship between REISER and ROGEN and the events surrounding the actual cancer diagnosis REISER received several years ago, the film walks a delicate line between comedy and pathos.
Next up for ROGEN (and currently in post-production) is MY MOTHER’S CURSE, in which he plays an inventor who takes his mother on a road-trip to hawk his inventions. Described as a ‘buddy comedy’, his unlikely co-star is singer-actress-director-writer BARBRA STREISAND. Sitting down with entertainment press recently at the Toronto International Film Festival, ROGEN described working with the legendary hyphenate. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
