broderick-simbaCurrently No. 1 at the box office, Disney’s THE LION KING is enjoying fresh success after being spruced up and converted to digital 3D. One of the studio’s most popular and financially successful titles, the film features the voice talents of MATTHEW BRODERICK, JONATHAN TAYLOR THOMAS, JEREMY IRONS, JAMES EARL JONES, NATHAN LANE and ERNIE SABELLA. Flush with tunes by ELTON JOHN and TIM RICE, the movie went on to be adapted for the Broadway stage, where it won several Tony Awards.
Since the release of THE LION KING, MATTHEW BRODERICK has gone on to musical comedy stardom in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, THE PRODUCERS and THE MUSIC MAN (including a Tony win for his musical talents in HOW TO SUCCEED…). So, it should come as no surprise that, during our interview with him for the original 1994 release of the film, he was disappointed when asked if it was his singing voice we were hearing in the movie.
