hugh-jackman-broadwayOpening soon in theaters, REAL STEEL is a sentimental sci-fi blend of THE CHAMP and TRANSFORMERS that works surprisingly well. Inspired by a short story from RICHARD MATHESON and directed by SHAWN LEVY, the film is set in the near future and stars HUGH JACKMAN as a washed-up boxer whose sport has been outlawed with robots taking over for human fighters. An underdog story of redemption, it’s a movie that belies the influence of executive producer STEVEN SPIELBERG.
A veteran of stage and screen, HUGH JACKMAN has become one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood and on Broadway. Following success as Wolverine in the popular X-MEN franchise, he went on to conquer theatrical musicals such as OKLAHOMA! and THE BOY FROM OZ as well as last year’s dramatic presentation of A STEADY RAIN, in which he co-starred with DANIEL CRAIG. We spoke with JACKMAN a couple of days ago about his return to the great white way in BACK ON BROADWAY, a solo review slated for a limited engagement starting next month.
