Zooey Deschanel, recently seen in the comedy Our Idiot Brother, is Jess, a recently single woman who moves in with three guys in the freshman sitcom New Girl.

Since Deschanel is also a talented singer (she and M. Ward are the two-person group known as She & Him), expect a healthy share of musicality on New Girl. “Who she is to herself, and who she is in the world are two different things,” says Deschanel on her character.  “That intersection is where it gets really interesting.  In her head, she’s kind of like in a musical or something.  But the actuality of the situation is she lives in the real world.  She has a rich fantasy life.”
