gosling991Ryan Gosling, star of Drive and the upcoming political drama The Ides of March, really doesn’t see himself as a sex symbol.

“I’m not that good looking,” says Gosling.  “I’m a pretty weird looking guy.  And I know that.  But that’s the magic of movies.  If you play somebody who is the romantic lead they cast that spell and people believe that about you but it’s not true.  Every role I ever got up until I played The Notebook was the weirdo, freaks, psychopaths, nerd, outsider character guy.”

Although Gosling’s character (he’s simply known as Driver) in Drive dispatches his share of two-bit criminals, the actor describes his character, as a “psychopath.”  Click on the media bar and listen to Gosling talk about Driver:

Co-starring Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman, Drive was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, the filmmaker behind Valhalla Rising and Bronson.
