Ryan Gosling is a part time Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a getaway driver in the neo-noir film Drive.  When he participates in a heist that goes south, crime kingpins Nino (Ron Perlman) and Bernie Rose (Albert Brooks) decide to wipe him out.  Carey Mulligan is Irene, Driver’s next door neighbor and love interest.

Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, the feature, which has its share of violence, envisions the protagonist as a modern day version of Clint Eastwood’s The Man With No Name, as he calmly dispatches anyone in his way.  “I’ve been wanting to play a superhero but all the good ones are taken,” says Gosling, who was seen last year in Blue Valentine and All Good Things.  “I thought I could create my own potentially, and so that’s what we tried to do with Drive.  A violent John Hughes movie meets a guy who is confusing his own life for a movie.”
