The third season of The Sing-Off, which has 16 a cappella groups vying for a Sony Music recording contract and $100,000, kicks off September 19th (NBC, 8 pm et/pt). Joining the Nick Lachey hosted program is singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles, who takes over the judging slot vacated by Nicole Scherzinger.
“My philosophy on this is to be honest and to be kind,” says Bareilles about her role on The Sing-Off. “I have been very lucky in my career to have amazing musical directors and producers that have taught me a vocabulary that works. There’s always room for growth. I can always better at what I’m doing, but there is a better way to say it in a way that doesn’t want to make you run home crying.”
