Although I wasn’t as down on Ghost Rider (2007) as most critics and comic geeks, the film, directed by Mark Steven Johnson (the filmmaker behind the atrocious Daredevil), just lacked the bite and menace that embodies Marvel’s most feared biker.
Nicolas Cage was more than game as Johnny Blaze (aka Ghost Rider), but the original film featured an unconvincing villain (Wes Bentley as Blackheart), and the chemistry between Cage and Eva Mendes was iffy at best.
With Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Blaze is hired by a sect of the church to protect a boy (Fergus Riordan) from the Devil (Ciaran Hinds). The movie co-stars Idris Elba (Luther), and any project that features Stringer Bell ups its bad-ass quotient significantly.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance opens nationwide February 17th, 2012.
