Both NBC’s The Playboy Club and ABC’s Pan Am are hoping to capitalize on the popularity of 1960s nostalgia, a wave created by the success of AMC’s Mad Men.
With the 1963 set Pan Am, Christina Ricci is Maggie, a bohemian who doesn’t toe the company line. “She’s sort of somebody who is a little bit of a troublemaker and she doesn’t necessarily always follow the rules,” says Ricci, who received an Emmy nomination for a guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy. “She has a little bit of an authority problem and gets in fights and kind of starts fights and is always questioning why she should always have to do these things.”

Pan Am, co-starring Mike Vogel and Kelli Garner, premieres Sunday, September 25th (ABC, 10 pm et/pt).
