At the Fox TCA Summer Tour, Zooey Deschanel did interviews to promote her upcoming sitcom New Girl (premiering September 20th, 9 pm et/pt), and during one of the sessions I sneaked in a question about She & Him, a two-person group she formed with musician M. Ward.
Click on the media bar and listen to Deschanel talk about her musical kinship with M. Ward:
Deschanel, with a voice reminiscent of past songbirds Peggy Lee and Julie London, has released two albums with Ward (simply named Volume One and Volume Two), and the pair recently collaborated on the Winnie The Pooh soundtrack. Even with her hectic schedule for New Girl, Deschanel is still fully invested in She & Him.
“We just made a holiday record, which is coming out later this year,” says Deschanel. “It was really really fun to make. We just basically got in the studio together and just recorded our favorite holiday songs.”
