While much of America spent a pleasurable July 4th weekend ensconced in BBQ heaven, beach parties, and cars changing into robot films, I remained slumped on my sad, brown couch, wiling away my hours shooting fiends, giant radscorpions, and Super Mutants with Fallout: New Vegas.
Earlier that week, I was mired in depression after Dia Frampton came in second to frontrunner Javier Colon (darn you, Justin Bieber fans!!). As a fellow entertainment writer mused on his Twitter account, Frampton is as close to a living Ramona Flowers as one could get, and since she was really sweet during our phone interview, I was pretty much Team Blake (well, Team Frampton) for most of The Voice’s first season run. After drowning my sorrows in Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes tunes and inexplicably loving Letters to Juliet, I tried to reclaim my dissipated manhood collecting caps, upgrading my armor, and obliterating any creature who didn’t vote for Frampton in Fallout: New Vegas.
Come Tuesday, I left Sin City and was ready to soak up the L.A. sun and open my shutters. That is, until I received an e-mail from the lovely PR people at Bethesda that new screenshots for Old World Blues, the third add-on for Fallout: New Vegas, were now available for viewing.
As far as the storyline behind Old World Blues, their cryptic press release reads: “The residents of the Mojave have long assumed the trackless wastes of ‘The Big Empty’ are a no-man’s land, a desolate stretch where no living thing can survive. In Old World Blues, you discover that is far from the truth.”
Old World Blues is set for a July 19th release (Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network, Steam).
