As of Sunday, Transformers: Dark of the Moon has taken in $97.4 million domestically, easily good enough for #1 at the box-office. But North America is just a slice of the financial pie, as the feature has amassed over $372 million worldwide. Coming in second was Cars 2 with $25.1 million, and unfortunately the debuts of Tom Hanks’ feature Larry Crowne (#4, $13 million) and Monte Carlo (#5, $7.6 million) were less than stellar. Here’s the top 10:
1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon - $97.4 million
2. Cars 2 - $25.1 million
3. Bad Teacher - With an estimated $20 million budget, the Cameron Diaz flick has exceeded expectations, as it’s made over $77 million worldwide. Stateside, the picture collected $14.1 million.
4. Larry Crowne - $13 million
5. Monte Carlo - Even with a little help from Leighton Meester and Cory Monteith, Selena Gomez’s starring vehicle had a sub-par July 4th weekend. $7.6 million
6. Super 8 - $7.5 million
7. Green Lantern - Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) can conjure up anything he imagines with his all-powerful ring. These days, Green Lantern needs to imagine a lot more greenbacks, as the film made just $6.3 million over the weekend. Thanks to horrible reviews, the picture has made just $102 million domestically (an estimated $200 million budget).
8. Mr. Popper’s Penguins - The Jim Carrey summer film has amassed just $50.1 million since its release, and this weekend it remained at the top 10 with $5.1 million.
9. Bridesmaids - $3.5 million
10. Midnight in Paris - $3.4 million
