Emma Roberts, last seen in Scream 4, plays Sally, a high school senior who forms a bond with a fatalistic teenager named George (Finding Neverland’s Freddie Highmore) in The Art of Getting By.  Twilight actress Elizabeth Reaser also stars as Sally’s mother.

“When you meet her she’s this very outgoing kind of talkative, interesting girl who you think ‘Oh she’s the pretty girl’ but you’re not really sure,” said the 20-year-old.  “She’s introverted and smoking cigarettes and into this older guy (Michael Angarano) but at the same time taking a lot of interest in Freddie Highmore’s character.  She’s very kind of all over the place but in a way you can relate and love her for.  Not in a kind of erratic way.  It’s kind of an honest…she’s having arguments with herself obviously internally.  That’s why she’s acting the way she is. And I think that’s really true to real life.  You live your life in a way but you have to figure things out as you go in your head.”
