
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ruled the box office seas over the weekend, as the Johnny Depp headlined film pummeled the competition with $90.1 million. Although this is the first Pirates film not to debut with at least $100 million domestically, the feature has made $256.3 million internationally. Coming in second was the Judd Apatow produced comedy Bridesmaids, which checked in with $21.1 million.
Here’s the top 10:
1. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - $90.1 million
2. Bridesmaids - One of this year’s sleepers, the comedy has made $59.5 million since its release. ($21.1 million)
3. Thor - With a worldwide gross of over $382 million, a sequel is definitely in the offing for the hammer wielding superhero. ($15.5 million)
4. Fast Five - $10.6 million
5. Rio - $4.7 million
6. Priest - In two weeks of release, the action-horror picture has collected just $20.5 million. ($4.6 million)
7. Jumping the Broom - The comedy-drama starring Paula Patton and Angela Bassett continues to overachieve, as it has made $31.3 million to date. The film’s budget is estimated at just $6.6 million. ($3.7 million)
8. Something Borrowed - $3.4 million
9. Water for Elephants - $2.2 million
10. Tyler Perry’s Big Madea’s Happy Family - $990,000
