Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) decision to switch the Alzheimer’s clinical trial packets and give Adele (Loretta Devine) the medicine (and not the placebo) will hit her square in the face on tonight’s season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, as it will strain her relationship with Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) and jeopardize her job at Seattle Grace.
Last season’s finale featured a tragic shootout at the hospital which left Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) taking a temporary leave of absence, and various members of the staff endured their share of emotional trauma (most notably the Mercy West-ers played by Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew).
Tonight’s installment should prove to be a turning point in Meredith Grey’s life, and one wonders if what she perceived as a good deed will be supported by Adele’s husband (and Meredith’s close mentor) Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens).
Hollywood Outbreak recently sat down with Loretta Devine, who was promoting her upcoming ABC Family series State of Georgia, and asked her if she has received any response from Grey’s fans about Adele’s battle with Alzheimer’s. The season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, titled ‘Unaccompanied Minor,’ airs tonight (ABC, 9 pm et/pt).
