Rachel McAdams, who stars opposite Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s new film Midnight in Paris (opening May 20th in NY/LA), also collaborated with revered filmmaker Terrence Malick (Badlands, The New World) in a currently untitled project.
Malick is secretive about his projects, and when asked about the specific plot, the actress gave a vague answer. “I don’t know,” said McAdams about the project, which is not to be confused with Malick’s latest picture, The Tree of Life, which opens May 27th. “I’ll find out when I see the film. It’s a romance, as far as I can tell, and it’s a bit of a triangle between Ben Affleck’s character and Olga (Kurylenko) and myself. And that’s about it I think.”
Collaborating with Malick was an “inspiring” experience for McAdams. “It’s a very different way of working. And I think it really services a real honesty and beauty in his films,” said the actress, who was last seen with Harrison Ford in Morning Glory. “It was a great experience as an actor, because you have to be very honest, very vulnerable. Take a leap and hope he catches you and he does. Again, it’s the same with Woody Allen, you can just let yourself go and let them take you where they’re going to take you and trust that it will be interesting and compelling and you don’t have to do a lot in a weird way. Both great experiences.”
