Beloved Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais (well, at least beloved by me) has signed on to Spy Kids: All The Time In The World and he will lend his voice as the robot spy dog Argonaut. “Not only am I lending my voice to Spy Kids, but they can keep it. I’m sick of it,” said Gervais in a statement.
The story centers on a retired secret agent (Jessica Alba) who is called back into action to stop a villain named Timekeeper (Entourage’s Jeremy Piven). It’s up to her step kids Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook) to help save the world, along with former Spy Kids Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara). Directed by Robert Rodriguez, the film comes out in 3-D on August 19th. The first three Spy Kids films have collectively amassed $450 million worldwide. Rodriguez’s last directing venture, the exploitation film homage Machete, took in nearly $27 million domestically last fall.
Alba’s latest film, the drama An Invisible Sign, opened in limited release today but has been available On Demand since April.
