Based on the bestselling novel by Emily Giffin, Something Borrowed centers on a New York attorney named Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) who harbors a crush for her best friend Darcy’s (Kate Hudson) fiance (Colin Egglesfield). The Office’s John Krasinski is Ethan, Rachel’s close friend and confidante.
“I think it’s important that you know that Darcy is a very self-centered person,” said Hudson. “That’s who she is. It’s all about her. For me I was really looking at this as where she goes in the second movie, if we get to do Something Blue. With that, you need to see how selfish this person is. But she’s not doing it to hurt anybody and it was an important change from the book that we did for the movie. We didn’t want to make it seem like what they did was okay. In the book, Darcy is way nastier than she is in the movie. It would have made it too easy for them (Rachel and Darcy’s fiance) to be having an affair.”
Something Blue, Giffin’s follow-up to Something Borrowed, delves into the growing relationship between Darcy and Ethan. Click on the media bar and listen to Hudson discuss her character’s journey in Something Blue.
