Fast Five obliterated the box-office competition over the weekend, taking in $83.6 million and making it the biggest weekend debut this year (it also topped Fast and Furious‘ 2009 debut of $71 million). Headlined by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, Fast Five also collected $81.4 million internationally.  Coming in second was the animated film Rio, which made $14.4 million, with Tyler Perry’s Big Happy Madea’s Family chiming in at #3 with $10.1 million.  Here’s the rest of the top 10:

4.  Water for Elephants - $9.1 million.

5.  Prom - $5 million.

6.  Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil - $4.1 million.

7.  Soul Surfer - $3.3 million.

8.  Insidious - $2.7 million.

9.  Hop - $2.6 million.

10.  Source Code - $2.5 million.
