Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) is the voice of Blu, a rare blue macaw who travels to Brazil to mate with the last remaining female (Anne Hathaway) in the macaw species. Jamie Foxx and will.i.am are also voices in the animated film, which opens Friday.
“What I like about it the most is that it discusses some really important issues in a really fun way,” said Eisenberg. “It talks about the protection of endangered species, as my character is about to become extinct. It talks about the preservation of the environment so that’s really special for me. But there are so many other reasons to love the movie - the spectacular animation, the music is beautiful, the insane characters. Jemaine Clement plays the bad guy and has this ridiculous song that is hysterical and evil. There are so many reasons to love Rio, and we are trying to please every last person on earth.”
