Opening Friday, the animated film Rio follows the adventures of a macaw named Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) who travels to Rio de Janeiro to mate with a female macaw (Anne Hathaway) to ensure the survival of the species. The film, which was directed by Ice Age filmmaker Carlos Saldanha, also features the voices of Jamie Foxx and George Lopez.
“I do think there is something in it for everyone,” said Hathaway about the film. “I think that there is a story that is a really great lesson for kids about learning to trust yourself and learning how to fly and soar. There’s really fun characters and witty dialogue that parents will appreciate. And as someone who is neither a child nor a patient but just loves animated movies I think that it is just a lot of fun. It’s really entertaining.”
