After Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers, it only seems right that refined actress, Blythe Danner would appear in a whacked out sci-fi comedy like Paul.

The story revolves around a couple of nerdy guys who head out to Area 51 only to discover a smart talking alien named Paul.

Danner plays Tara Walton in the pic – and from what she tells HollywoodOutbreak.com, her character is a bit eccentric.

“I play this sort of old, crotchety woman who is a hermit, who they come and discover,” she explains. “Sigourney Weaver’s in it and some of the kids from SNL (Saturday Night Live)…it’s a lot of fun.”

The movie was written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost; the team that created the utterly nutty zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead. And Danner admits that as loony as the story is, Pegg made working on the flick enjoyable.

“He’s a charmer. He’s such a funny guy,” Danner says passionately. “He’s a wonderful guy. I love doing the comedies. They’re an awful lot of fun.”

Paul opens today.
