Director Tom McCarthy’s (The Station Agent,The Visitor) new film Win Win centers on a struggling lawyer (Paul Giamatti) who also moonlights as a high school wrestling coach. His life changes when a talented athlete (newcomer Alex Shaffer) joins his team.
McCarthy received some unexpected help from Jon Bon Jovi, who allowed the filmmaker to use the Bon Jovi track “Have A Nice Day” for a montage sequence in the picture. “I think Bon Jovi’s concert sales blew everyone out of the water this year if I’m not mistaken,” said the director. “I saw the number and it’s insane, like not even close, which was a shock to me. To be fair, (he’s) an incredibly generous guy. He gave us this music for a song, for no money.”
