Opening in limited release March 25th, Peep World focuses on a successful writer (Ben Schwartz) whose tell-all book has left members of his family a bit disgruntled. Sarah Silverman plays the writer’s sister Cheri, a struggling and self-loathing artist who hates having her life put on public display. The actress, who headlined the Comedy Central show The Sarah Silverman Program, says that with a little bit of moxie, getting a foot in the showbiz door is not too impossible.
“There are so many outlets, there’s the internet. There is no excuse if you are a creative person to not be getting stuff out there,” said Silverman, who describes her character in Peep World as ‘pathetic’ yet ‘heartbreaking.’ “That’s the great thing about being a writer or a comedian. The ability to make things. It’s no longer expensive or a monetary barrier to get things out there. Anyone can do it, with gumption.”
