The animated feature Rango, featuring the voice of Johnny Depp, was the number one movie this week bringing in an estimated $38 million and beating out the competition by significant numbers.
The Adjustment Bureau, the Matt Damon/Emily Blunt thriller landed at number two for its debut in theatres and raised $20.9 million between Friday and Sunday. While Beastly, the updated version of Beauty and the Beast trailed in third place with a modest $10.1 million in revenue for the weekend.
Hall Pass, which debuted last week in first place dropped 33.4 percent to take the fourth place position. The comedy raised an additional $9 million bringing its total box office to $27 mil to date.
And the other animated flick, Gnomeo and Juliet dropped from second to fifth place between Friday and Sunday, but still grabbed an additional $6.9 million. That means in four weeks out Gnomeo and Juliet has brought in an estimated $83.6 mil.
